The 2026 Smart Home Buyer’s Guide
The reference we wish existed when we started. Platforms compared. Hubs ranked. Room-by-room recommendations. And the four traps that cost most people a $300 do-over.
Download Free Guide →Start with one room. Grow from there.
The smart-home rabbit hole gets expensive fast. Pick a single room, get it working, then expand. Here’s where most people start.
Smart Lighting
The cheapest room to make smart, and the room you’ll notice every day.
Shop lighting →Climate
Smart thermostats, vent sensors, and the routines that actually save money.
Shop climate →Security
Cameras, doorbells, sensors — picked for privacy, not just feature lists.
Shop security →Smart Plugs
The $15 device that turns any dumb thing into a smart thing. Start here.
Shop plugs →Hubs & Speakers
The brain. Pick one and commit before you buy anything else.
Shop hubs →Cameras
Indoor, outdoor, doorbell. Hardwired and battery. Local-storage options.
Shop cameras →The 4 steps. In order. Skip them at your peril.
Most “smart home regret” comes from doing these in the wrong order. Stick to this and you’ll save a couple hundred dollars and a weekend of returns.
Pick Your Ecosystem
Matter, HomeKit, Alexa, Google, or SmartThings. Pick one and commit before you spend a dollar on devices.
Start With Your Hub
Buy your central hub or smart speaker. Get it onto your network. Confirm it works. Then move on.
Add Room By Room
Don’t try to smart-everything in week one. Lighting first. Then thermostat. Then expand.
Automate The Routines
Once devices are added, build automations that actually save you time. Goodnight, leaving home, motion-triggered lights.
Start with something free.
Three resources we use ourselves — yours to download, no strings, no email-bait. (OK, the buyer’s guide asks for an email. We earn it.)

Monarch Tech Texas
Bought the gear, don’t want to fish wire through walls or program scenes? Monarch handles design, programming, and install. Audio, video, automation — done right the first time.
View partner →Tesla Properties

View partner →PointCentral

View partner →Things people ask before they buy.
Will this stuff work with my existing smart home?
Most likely. Every product page lists every ecosystem the device works with — Matter, HomeKit, Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings. If you’re not sure, our buyer’s guide has a 1-page hub-picker that tells you exactly what to buy based on what you already own.
Do you ship outside the US?
Most products ship across the continental US in 2–7 working days. International orders take longer and may have additional duties. See our delivery page for full details.
What if I need help installing?
Every order ships with a free setup guide. For Austin-area customers we recommend Monarch Tech Texas (one of our partners). For everyone else, our help centre has install walkthroughs and a contact form for setup questions.
Are the products covered by warranty?
Yes — 2-year manufacturer warranty standard on all hardware. Print-on-demand merch (tees, mugs, mousepads) has a separate replacement policy for defects, print errors, and shipping damage.
Can I buy in bulk for a property portfolio?
Yes — we work with property managers and STR portfolios directly. PointCentral (one of our partners) handles enterprise multifamily and short-term rental deployments. Contact us for wholesale pricing.
Smart home. Done right. Today.
Two ways in: shop the gear, or grab the free buyer’s guide first. Either way you’ll spend less time wrestling with apps and more time using your house.
