Our Sustainability Commitment
We sell home products. That means raw materials, manufacturing, packaging and logistics. We’re honest about the impact and working to reduce it.
Where we are
We won’t claim to be a sustainable company — we sell physical goods with real carbon footprints. What we can do is make deliberate choices at every stage that reduce our impact, and be transparent about where we are on that journey.
Packaging reduction
We’ve removed single-use plastic void fill from all outbound parcels and replaced it with recycled paper padding. Outer cartons are now a minimum of 80% recycled content.
Supplier standards
New brand partners must complete a basic supply chain disclosure as part of onboarding. We prioritise partners with verifiable certifications (FSC, OEKO-TEX, B Corp) where equivalent products are available.
Longevity over fashion
The Powerhouse Edit is designed for longevity, not trend cycles. We run small production runs deliberately — no overproduction, no landfill surplus. Products are designed to work in multiple styles and not date quickly.
In progress: carbon measurement
We’re currently working with a supply chain specialist to establish a baseline carbon measurement across our top 20 product lines. We expect to publish initial results in Q3 2026.
What we ask of brand partners
All new brand partners joining the Powerhouse marketplace are required to complete a supply chain disclosure covering:
- Country of manufacture and primary materials source
- Packaging materials and recyclability
- Any third-party environmental or ethical certifications held
This disclosure is used internally to inform sourcing decisions and will form the basis of a public supplier standards document we plan to publish in 2026.
Smart home and energy efficiency
Smart home technology, when properly used, reduces household energy consumption. Smart lighting and plugs eliminate standby power waste. Smart thermostats reduce heating and cooling load. We actively highlight energy monitoring features in our smart home product descriptions and buyer guides.
